Eating well has become synonymous with the word “organic”. This word has been taken with a considerable amount of enthusiasm. We all have become extensively aware about environment, a greener world and a world safer for us and our next generation.

“Organic” means a method of growing and processing food. It’s a process that relies on healthy, rich soil to produce strong plants that resist pests and diseases. The biggest and most extensive scientific study and research into the benefits of organic food has found that it is more nutritious than ordinary produce and may in fact lengthen people’s lives. Organic foods can be considered to be better and healthier not only for the consumer but also for the environment. Organic foods are considered to be more nutrient dense than their counterparts produced via modern farming practices.

Organic farmers don’t use toxic, persistent pesticides or chemical fertilizers, which have been known to contaminate soil, air, drinking water and food. Instead, organic farmers enrich their soils and control pests by rotating crops, planting cover crops, releasing beneficial insects and adding composted manure and plant wastes to the soil.

Organic farmers feed their livestock only organic feed, hay and pasture. These farmers don’t use antibiotics or synthetic hormones. They keep their livestock healthy and productive through good nutrition and low-stress living conditions. Many organic farmers also use homeopathic and herbal treatments to keep livestock healthy.
